#116: The Hidden Fortress

1958

I remember the first time I saw The Hidden Fortress, the box art suggested that the film is a great way to introduce viewers to foreign films.  Why?  Movies from other countries are just in other languages, is that something so difficult for people that they need to be slowly inducted into the experience the way we learn mathematics?  I find that conversation to be condescending, but I also think The Hidden Fortress is wonderful and was very happy that my friend, playwright Steven Jackson, joined me to talk about it.
