#103: The Lady Eve

criterion103PRESTON STURGES

1941

What do we talk about when we talk about falling in love?  If you do it alone, are you really in love or are you just obsessed?  These are things I ponder when I think about the first time I was ever taken with someone, the fact that I loved him as much as I loathed him because of how he made me feel and how little I got in return.  These are also things I am reminded of when I watch my favourite Preston Sturges film, a comedy I have seen a billion times and is one of the first times I have ever seen a movie represent being in love with being in loathe with them as well.  For this episode, I had the great pleasure of talking to one of my favourite people with whom I discuss old movies, playwright and actor Jill Leger.
