Some films are a great way to chart your own growth as a film watcher: as a teenager, I thought Antonioni’s masterpiece was a bore, and when I got older I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Developing my own ability to understand films as more than just entertainment has been one of the great pleasures of my life.
